Numerology is the study of the vibrational meaning carried by numbers. Your birth date and birth name each contain a unique numerical code — the Life Path, Heart’s Desire, Soul Expression, and Personality numbers — that maps the themes, gifts, and curriculum of your life.
These are your timing numbers — the same kind of math as the rest of your chart, but moving with the calendar. Your Personal Year is the theme of your current year, your Personal Month narrows it to the season you’re in, and your Personal Day is today’s flavor inside that month. Each is built from the one above it, so your day sits inside your month, which sits inside your year. In plain terms: your Personal Year adds your birth month and birth day to the current year; your Personal Month adds that year number to the current calendar month; and your Personal Day adds that month number to today’s date — each reduced to a single digit. One Roses & Saltwater detail: your Personal Year turns over on your birthday, not on January 1, because the cycle belongs to you, not the calendar.
Your Life Path comes from your full birth date — month, day, and year added together and reduced to a single digit. Your name numbers come from the letters of your full birth name, where each letter carries a number (A is 1, B is 2, and so on): the whole name gives your Soul Expression, the vowels give your Heart’s Desire, and the consonants give your Personality.
“Reducing” means adding a number’s digits together until you reach a single digit — 29 becomes 2 + 9 = 11, then 1 + 1 = 2. The exceptions are the master numbers 11, 22, and 33: when a number lands on one of these, we keep it (shown as a pair, like “11/2”) instead of reducing it away, because master numbers carry a heightened intensity. That’s why a few of your numbers appear as a pair.
Your life moves through four long seasons, each carrying its own number. The four Pinnacles are built by combining the numbers of your birth month, day, and year in turn; each names the opportunity of a stage of life, and which one you’re in is set by your age. Running alongside them, the four Challenges come from the differences between those same birth numbers — the recurring lesson paired with each pinnacle. Together they read like the chapters of a life, never a fixed fate.
Birthday Number. The day of the month you were born (reduced to a single digit if needed) — a specific gift you carry, woven through your Life Path.
Bridge Number. The distance between your Heart’s Desire and your Soul Expression (the difference between them, reduced). It points to what eases the tension between what you want inside and how you show up outside.
Maturity Number. Your Life Path and Soul Expression added together and reduced — the direction your life ripens toward, usually felt more strongly in its second half.
Hereditary Number. Drawn from your family (last) name — what your lineage hands forward, for you to keep or to gently set down.
Hidden Passion. The number that appears most often across the letters of your name — a talent you return to again and again.
Gifts in Progress. The numbers missing from your name’s letters. These aren’t flaws or things you lack — they’re capacities you’re here to build on purpose.
Power Numbers. Any master number in your chart, or any single digit that turns up three or more times across your core numbers — themes turned up loud.
A deep focus area (13, 14, 16, 19). When one of your core numbers passes through 13, 14, 16, or 19 on its way to a single digit, it marks an area of concentrated growth — the curriculum your soul enrolled in, always paired with the gift it builds. Never a punishment; always a focus.
Rather than the generic sequences you’ll find anywhere, yours are chosen from your own chart — a master number you carry, the digit of your Life Path, the number of your Personal Year — so the signs you’re invited to notice are actually yours.
Astrology maps the positions of the sun, moon, and planets at the exact moment of your birth. Your Sun sign describes your core identity. Your Moon sign describes your emotional world. Your Rising sign describes how the world meets you before it knows you.
Your Sun, Moon, and planets are calculated from your birth date. Your Rising sign also needs your birth time and city, which is why those are asked for — and why they’re optional, since only the Rising sign depends on them. Your Dominant Element is found by tallying fire, earth, air, and water across your signs, weighing your Sun, Moon, and Rising most, to see which element runs strongest in you.
